A wise parent raises their children to understand discernment, discretion, consideration and decision making. In all this the king must lead by example through taking responsibility for his actions.

Though a king’s word is absolute, his throne is not. If he abdicates responsibility, his authority and leaves it to others, those who watch will learn to do the same. He will be dethroned as an authority by his subjects because he abdicated long ago.

Yet if a king rules by arbitrariness and stubborn refusal to acknowledge wisdom, he will lose his throne as well. A wise man follows good counsel. A man who consorts with fools will become foolish; whereas a man who hangs with the wise will become wise.
